GENERAL RULES
Only current, fully paid up members may enter the competitions.
Digital and chemical prints (inkjet and other print types) are acceptable in all Society organised competitions and Exhibitions.
Projections are digital only.
Images must be entirely the work of the Photographer. In composite images, all component images must meet this requirement. For the avoidance of doubt, use of images from any other source including, but not limited to, royalty free image banks and clipart are not permitted.
Images created solely in the computer are not acceptable. Images should contain elements of 'light' recorded image.
Prints must be titled, bear the name of the author and clearly indicate the section in which they are entered
Prints must be mounted on a medium suitable for placing on the display boards.
It is recommended that prints measure a minimum of 20cm (8") along one side, not including the mount. It is also recommended that mounts do not exceed 40cm x 50 cm (this is mandatory for most external competitions).
PDI Images must be submitted via Photoentry
Note: Interim Guidance on AI
Rule 4 (above) is an overarching requirement for competition images, based on current PAGB General Conditions. However, the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning raises the possibility of an author, perhaps inadvertently, infringing this rule.
AI-enabled algorithmic automation of basic imaging processing (ie using AI to assist in something the photographer can do manually), is acceptable. Generative AI where entirely new images or image elements are built at a pixel level using non-photographic processes is not acceptable.
The PAGB has produced a Discussion Document which gives detailed interim guidance on this issue.
