This year's Photography Show which was previously moved to September from March is now to be a Virtual Show only, taking place online on 20/21 September. The next physical show at the NEC will take place 18-21 September 2021.
EHHPS made it to the Final of the 2019-20 CACC Rosebowl Competition, only to have the Final Day, scheduled for Sunday April 19th cancelled.
The good news however is that the final images have been judged offline by the planned judge, Jay Charnock FRPS. Oxford are this year’s winners in a tight competition.

In view of the current Covid-19 situation, the Ealing BEAT committee have issued the following:
It is therefore, with the greatest regret, that the committee has determined to cancel BEAT 2020 and instead to focus on making BEAT 2021 the most successful year in BEAT’s history. We know that this will be a disappointment to many, but we can see no alternative.
As a result, we will be making a full subscription refund to all registered BEAT 2020 artists and groups as soon as possible.

More positively.....it has been decided that all individuals and groups [but not group members], who applied for BEAT 2020, will have a presence on the website as a showcase for their work. We will be promoting this to the public via social media and encourage you to “spread the word” too!

CACC Chair Mark Buckley-Sharp has announced:
CACC has decided to cancel Rosebowl Day at Amersham on Sunday April 19th.
It is possible that the Rosebowl appointed judge will agree to review and score the final entries at home. This would be helpful as otherwise most of those images would no longer be eligible as they were probably used in earlier rounds. This affects only the twelve notified finalist clubs, and a decision will be sent to them later. The on-line entry system for the Rosebowl Final is open now, so finalist clubs can post their entries anyway if they wish. Anything posted will also be forwarded to the CACC selectors.
CACC Championship Day on March 22nd, previously announced as a closed event, is now fully cancelled.
We have received the following from the External Competition Secretary of Imagez:
As the situation around novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, we decided to cancel Chiltern Images Print Exhibition 2020. For those who have already entered, I will return your prints and entry fee as soon as possible.
As a result of the significantly more strict Government guidance on Social Distancing with regard to the Coronavirus, all EHHPS meetings are suspended until further notice.
As previously announced, the Committee is looking at means of continuing activity by other means - such as conducting PDI competitions via the Internet. We will continue to update everyone as plans advance.
Once again we urge all members to take heed the advice available from the NHS, Public Health England, and Local Government websites, together with others such as the BBC.
This event is now cancelled fully.

Amanda Wright has passed on the good news that we have made it through to the Final of this year’s Rosebowl, albeit by a narrow margin.
The Final will take place in Amersham on April 19th.
Phil Dean’s Photowalk to Kew Gardens, originally scheduled for Sunday February 16th has been postponed for one week because of feared disruption from Storm ‘Dennis’.
Details remain otherwise the same, and the Events section has been updated.
Our meeting of February 6th featured the annual Dell & Pietruski print competitions, initiated by two members of the club many decades ago.
The Dell, for a black and white print, was won by Amanda Wright.
The Pietruski, for a colour print was won by Paul Mason.
Congratulations to both.
In this third round competition for the hotly contested Rosebowl trophy, EHHPS were matched against Pinner CC, Stokenchurch CC and Wycombe PS. The match, at Pinner, was well attended, with EHHPS being represented by Dennis Durack and Paul Mason.
The Judge for the evening was Mark Buckley-Sharp.
After 60 PDI images, Wycombe emerged as clear winners on 271 points. EHHPS and Pinner shared second place on 261 points, with Stokenchurch only one point behind on 260.

Last night Ealing hosted our Round 2 of the Rosebowl Competition against clubs New City and Marlow. The 45 digital images were judged by Alan Colegrave who more than once mentioned that he was struggling to think of things to say as the standard of images was so high that he couldn’t fault them. That said he did manage to provide us with a broad range of marks.
The final scores were:

New City 2nd with 259
Marlow 3rd with 247

A small group of us ventured north to Watford on Wednesday 20th November for the XRR Visions competition.
EHHPS entered a team comprising Shaun Hodge, Dennis Durack and John Clare. In addition, Phil Dean, Kristin Mason and Paul Mason entered as individuals only.
184 pre-judged images from 92 photographers were shown in two consecutive slideshows, followed by a live critique of the 92 tie-break images by guest judge, David Steel DPAGB, from the East Anglian Federation.

Unfortunately, as a team EHHPS came well down the results table. The high scoring images were predominantly Wildlife and Landscape. It seemed that the Judge was seeking something more in ‘People’ images.

Amersham played hosts to the third and final round of Group A’s North West Fed with Hemel Hempstead and EHHPS on Monday evening which was judged by Martin Patten LRPS CPAGB BPE*
The scores were mostly very disappointing once again for Ealing and we came 3rd despite achieving 3 20’s and bagging 3 of the 4 allocated stars.

Amersham will therefore go forward to the Semi Final against the winning club from Group C on 21st January.
The Final will be on Saturday 22nd Feb 2020 where our starred images will be judged again for a chance to win best print or best PDI of the competition.
