Summer Event: Wine and Cheese Tasting with Martin Creedy

This years Annual wine tasting was attended by 13 and covered the region of Bordeaux in France and due to social distancing rules still in force was held in the garden.

Wines

We had six wines ranging in price from £10.79 to £25.00 at the discounted 12 mixed bottle case price and one surprise wine which was Waitrose's Blueprint Claret Reserve at £6.49 a bottle

The six wines were:

• Château Hartes (Bordeaux)

• Château Toudenac (Bordeaux Superieur)

• Château Bois de Galet

• Château Pontet Barrail Cru Bourgeois (Médoc)

• Château La Clarière (Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux)

• L’Épiphanie de Saint-Émilion

As usual favourites of the evening were mixed but the surprise wine from Waitrose was fantastic value for money comparing very well with wines costing twice the price.

Cheeses

This year proved to be a record for the cheese selection with 17 different cheeses on offer accompanied by homemade sourdough bread and some Waitrose baguette. The cheeses were:

• Le Rustique Camembert

• French Brie

• Long Clawson Stilton

• Morbier

• Jarlsberg

• Reblochon

• Highmoor

• Compte

• Wensleydale

• Keen's Cheddar

• Lincolnshire Poacher

• Brighton Blue

• Bleu D'Averngne

• Per Las Blue

• Bath Blue

• Barkham Blue

• Tomme De Vache a la Truffe

The extensive cheese selection

We may also have picked up a couple of new club members as we were joined by a couple who googled Wine Evenings and somehow came across our event!

Next year will be Italy, a region we have yet to try and enjoy
